Virginia Tech Football Moves up to No. 14 in Both Polls

The AP Poll and Coaches Poll are out for Week 8 (October 15, 2017), and Virginia Tech has moved up to #14 in both polls.

It was a weekend of upsets in college football, with top-ten teams Clemson (previously No. 2), Washington (No. 5), Washington State (No. 8), and Auburn (No. 10) all losing. In the Amway Coaches Poll, the Hokies were No. 17 last week but Washington State and Auburn both fell below the Hokies this week. Tech also moved ahead of previously No. 16 Michigan.

In the AP Poll, the Hokies were No. 15 last week, and Washington State and Auburn both fell below Tech. But previous No. 16 Notre Dame slid ahead of the Hokies, so Tech only moved up one spot, to No. 14.

The Hokies (5-1, 1-1 ACC) will face UNC (1-6, 0-4 ACC) at home this coming Saturday (Oct. 21), at 3:30 PM on either ESPN, ESPN2, or ABC. The network announcement will be made later today. Tickets are still available for the game on hokietickets.com.

  1. I sure hope everyone is grateful for VT football to be relevant again. It is nice to be in top 15 entering the meat of the October schedule.
Sure hope we can dial it up vs UNC- tobacco row’s back room university!!!
