Metallica To Play In Lane Stadium On May 7

After years of rumors, teasing and hope, Metallica is finally coming to Blacksburg.

The iconic metal band will perform in Lane Stadium on May 7, 2025, as part of their M72 World Tour, at last coming to the venue that’s used its hit “Enter Sandman” as the entrance for its football team for over two decades.

The band will be joined by Pantera and Suicidal Tendencies, Virginia Tech announced Thursday.

Tickets will be available starting Sept. 23 through a series of special presale windows. There’s a four-ticket limit per person. Virginia Tech students have a two-ticket limit per person.

General public tickets go on sale Sept. 27.

The Hokies and Metallica may have foreshadowed the upcoming concert with a collaboration to sell merchandise in August.

  1. Kudos to Metallica. The funny thing is, VT fans will pay $150 for 30 seconds of a 2.5 hr show. I mean that’s all well and good but 99% of students and VT fans, especially those 18-40 couldn’t tell you one other song that Metallica sings.

  2. The actual fans that have made the whole thing, be a thing to begin with, are the last to have access to the tickets. VT drops the ball once again. What a joke.

    1. Good lord dude! How could anyone find a negative here? The unlikely nature of this even being a thing is incredible. Come on man.

    2. You can sign up for free to be a fifth member on the Metallica website which grants you a presale code. I already have mine

    1. It’s a million dollar industry….Metallica isn’t going to change their whole tour just so some 20 year olds can have an extra day to study for an exam. Come on, live a little…

    2. Hey, I drove 4+ hours, to see a Billy Joel concert, didn’t get back until 3am. I had an exam at 8am, for Electromagnetic Fields II (just ask any EE how hard that class is), and I aced it!

    1. Do you expect every tour date to be a Friday or Saturday? You’ve got 8 months advance notice to put in your PTO you can do it!

  3. As iconic rock bands go, these guys are still youthful — all within a year or two of 60. Rock on!
