Virginia Tech picked up a commitment from Sherrod Henderson on Sunday.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound defensive end from just outside of Wilmington, N.C., is the 13th commitment in the Hokies’ 2025 class. He’s one of four out-of-state pledges — the first from the Tar Heel State — and the second defensive end, joining Zeke Chinwike (Virginia Beach).

Henderson is a three-star prospect, the No. 20 player in North Carolina and the 61st-best edge rusher in the class, according to the 247Sports composite rankings. His in-state ratings fluctuate, from 13th (Rivals) to 28th (247Sports). He does not have an On3 rating.

Henderson visited Duke (May 31), Michigan State (June 7) and USF (June 13) before a trip to Blacksburg on June 21. About a week after his stay, he chose the Hokies over the Blue Devils and Spartans. Other offers included Air Force, UConn, East Carolina, James Madison, Liberty, Old Dominion, Pitt, Virginia and West Virginia.

Of Tech’s 13 commitments in the class of 2025, Henderson is one of seven on the defensive side of the ball. Cornerback Knahlij Harrell, safety Sheldon Robinson, linebackers Noah Chambers and Brett Clatterbaugh, defensive tackle Christian Evans and Chinwike round out that group.
