Jaydon Young
Shooting Guard, Class of 2023
Greensboro Day School, Greensboro, NC
6-4, 190
Virginia Tech men’s basketball picked up a commitment on Friday evening from Greensboro Day School (Greensboro, N.C.) guard Jaydon Young. He is the second commitment of the Hokies’ 2023 recruiting class, joining Georgia’s Brandon Rechsteiner.
Young is a 6-4 shooting guard who picked the Hokies over one other Power 5 offer – Texas A&M. He also held offers from Charlotte, Appalachian State and Winthrop, among others. He is ranked the No. 11 prospect in North Carolina by 247 Sports and ESPN.
Here’s a breakdown of Virginia Tech men’s basketball’s future scholarship outlook with Young’s commitment.

At the moment, the Hokies have 11 scholarship players for the 2023-24 season, meaning they have two open spots. Both Hunter Cattoor and Grant Basile will have a COVID year if they’d like to return to Blacksburg. However, even if this is Cattoor’s final season, Tech is set in the backcourt for a few years. Sean Pedulla, Rodney Rice, Darius Maddox, MJ Collins, Rechsteiner and Young will make up a very talented group next year.

I would kill for a Quality Big Man.
He looks like a rugged physical defender and solid shooter. I like the direction of this team.
