Virginia Tech picked up a commitment from South Carolina athlete Thomas Williams on Monday afternoon. He is the 15th commitment for the Hokies in the 2023 recruiting class.
Tech has now received six verbal commitments in the last week. Tavorian Copeland, Aycen Stevens, Caleb Woodson, Braylon Johnson and Tralon Mitchell – three linebackers, a defensive back and an athlete – all chose the Hokies since Tuesday, June 28.
Williams attends Powdersville High School in Greenville, SC, where he plays both running back and safety. He currently projects to play in the secondary for Virginia Tech. 247 and On3 rank him as the No. 9 recruit in South Carolina while Rivals has him at No. 11.
Williams is a Brent Pry recruit who was originally offered by Tech’s new head coach when he was the defensive coordinator at Penn State. His recruiting profile also lists him with offers from West Virginia, Old Dominion and UAB.
