Virginia Tech picked up another commitment on Thursday. This time it was Battlefield (Haymarket, VA) linebacker Caleb Woodson, who became Tech’s 12th commitment of the 2023 class and the third linebacker verbal in as many days.
Woodson plays more of a safety role in high school, but he’s got a big frame and most likely projects as a Sam (wide side) linebacker in Brent Pry’s scheme. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 31 prospect in the state, while On3 has him at No. 16 in its rankings.
Woodson’s other finalists were Virginia and Wake Forest. He also held scholarship offers from Florida State, Pitt, Vanderbilt and South Carolina, as well as a number of Group of 5 schools such as Coastal Carolina.
