Hannes Hammer Commits To Virginia Tech

Hannes Hammer
Offensive Line, Class of 2023
North Cross, Roanoke, VA
6-6, 272

Virginia Tech picked up a commitment from Roanoke offensive tackle Hannes Hammer on Sunday evening. Hammer, originally from Germany, plays for North Cross.

After picking up an offer from the Hokies recently, it didn’t take Hammer long to commit. He is listed at 6-6, 272, and he is projected to play offensive tackle in college. He only started playing offensive line during the 2021 season, and he also recently picked up offers from UMass, Appalachian State, and Eastern Michigan.

Hammer is the third Virginia Tech commit of the 2023 recruiting class, joining offensive guard Lance Williams (TN) and defensive end Jason Abbey (Richmond, VA).

  1. To all my old school buddies, “Theme from Miami Vice by Jan Hammer plays when he comes on the field.

  2. I’m a bit confused. Was he playing both offense and defense in that video? He almost looked more effective on the defense. TIA

  3. I know nothing about him, but with that name, he’s destined for greatness!

  4. All we need is a guard named Franz and we’ll be all set.

    Welcome to Hokie Nation!

  5. Since every time I turn around-one of the big Uglies leaves Us-I’ll take what I can get.

  6. This is how you recruit a 4-star. His film shows he’s long, athletic, can tackle on “D”, uses his long arms well when blocking, moves his feet well, and only has been playing OL since 2021. Add Coach Rudolph and his expertise and you have a future NFLer.
