The Virginia Tech Spring Game: What I’ll Be Watching

Virginia Tech will play a Spring Game for the first time since 2019 on Saturday afternoon, and fans will be able to see the team in action for the first time in the Brent Pry Era.

Pry will split his team in two – one wearing maroon, and the other white (no orange…sorry Stork).  They will play four 12-minute quarters, with the second half using a running clock. We don’t know the teams will be split up at this point. In fact, we don’t even know if the rosters will be announced before the start of the game. But we do know there will be football, and that’s good enough for now.

However, you aren’t necessarily in store for an exciting event. Both sides of the ball are adjusting to new schemes, the top two quarterbacks and the top receiver are new to the program, etc. Pry also plans to keep it pretty vanilla since the game will be televised.

“Obviously it’s a televised event, you don’t want to show all your cards,” he told the media on Wednesday. “So we’ve made things pretty vanilla on both sides of the ball and with special teams.”
