Lance Williams Commits To Virginia Tech

Lance Williams
Offensive Line, Class of 2023
Alcoa High School, Alcoa, TN
6-3, 306

Virginia Tech picked up its first commitment of the 2023 recruiting class when Alcoa (TN) offensive lineman Lance Williams made his pledge. He narrowed his list to the Hokies and Cincinnati, and eventually settled on Tech.

Williams has taken four visits to Blacksburg, and he also held a close relationship with the previous Virginia Tech staff. Hokies assistant coach Shawn Quinn was college roommates with Williams’ father, and he also has a good relationship with offensive line coach Joe Rudolph. Those two connections made the transition from one staff to another go smoothly.

Williams also held Power 5 offers from Georgia Tech, Kansas, Kentucky, Purdue, South Carolina and West Virginia. 247 ranks him as a 3-star recruit and the No. 32 prospect in the state of Tennessee.

With his verbal, Williams is the first committed player in Brent Pry’s first full recruiting class at Virginia Tech.

  1. Not judging the kid but he’s much bigger than who he lines up against and just throws them to the ground. Which is ok but then he seems to jump on top of them. Throw em down and tell em to stay there.

    1. Dunno, I kinda like how he drove em into the ground and then gave em an extra shot. A little nastiness in an OL prospect isn’t a bad thing – and pretty sure it’s a hard thing to teach – they either have the Jake Grove ‘tude or they don’t.

  2. Great start! Looks like he had some good options. Looking forward to Rudolph building his own OL

  3. Congrats Lance. U will love being a Hokie for the rest of your life. Enjoy HS and recruit some more studs to VT.

  4. Thanks for becoming a Hokie. You won’t regret your decision and welcome home.

  5. Welcome to Hokie Nation young man! It is only right that the commitments begin on the OL!!! Next?
