Chris Coleman: Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic reported today that an alliance between the ACC, Big Ten and Pac-12 would be announced soon, perhaps as soon as next week.  David Teel also wrote an article about the subject for The Richmond Times-Dispatch.  Teel is a long-tenured sports writer with a better grasp than me on how things are done at the conference level, but even his article contains more questions than answers.

There’s a strong suspicion that part of the deal will be about a scheduling partnership between the three conferences.  Tech has played Ohio State and Purdue of the Big Ten recently, and they were supposed to play Penn State until COVID happened.  The Hokies also have upcoming games between now and 2032 against Purdue, Rutgers, Maryland and Wisconsin.  Tech also has a home-and-home scheduled with the Pac-12’s Arizona in 2029 and 2030.

However, Tech also has a bunch of future games scheduled against the following SEC opponents: Alabama, Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Ole Miss.  Here’s a link to our future schedules page.
