Last spring, as the COVID-19 pandemic set in, Tuscarora (Va.) three-star running back Bryce Duke was looking for something to occupy the extra time. Early on, it was difficult to get to a gym to work out. Then, his brother presented an idea.

“My brother was like, ‘I need a cut, I’ve got an interview,’” Duke said. “I was like, ‘Shoot, I’ve got you.’ So, I cut him. I actually bought a bunch of clippers and I’ve started cutting his friends and my friends. I’ve been cutting hair for a while now.”

On June 22, Duke committed to play and attend Virginia Tech, but he said he’s also kept his off-the-field career in mind. He’s looking at majoring in business with the hope of getting into real estate, owning his own business, or getting more into the stock market. For Duke, the Hokies offered the whole package on and off the field. It’s why nearly a month following his decision, he said he’s just as solidly on board as he was when he announced his commitment.
