Ramon Brown’s Commitment And Virginia Tech’s Recruiting Momentum

Virginia Tech
Ramon Brown just made Virginia Tech’s class a lot better. (@Ramon_x7)

In last week’s Friday Q&A, we received a question asking why Virginia Tech’s recruiting has improved this year.  Apparently not everybody read the article, because the same question got asked again this morning a couple of times on the boards.  So I’ll address it again, with the commitment of 4-star running back Ramon Brown as the context.  I’ll expand on some of those things that I talked about in last week’s answer, plus add a couple of other things that I didn’t include.  This column will replace our regular Friday Q&A because I feel like this is an important topic to address right now.

Brown is obviously a big commitment for the Hokies.  He’s the No. 209 recruit in the country per 247, he’s the No. 9 player in the state of Virginia, and the No. 1 overall recruit in the Richmond area for the 2022 recruiting class.  ESPN is even higher on Brown, ranking him the No. 6 prospect in the state and the No. 128 player in the country.

Brown’s commitment, as well as that of Xavier Simmons (No. 191 by 247) and Tech’s standing with Gunner Givens (No. 126 by 247, No. 83 ESPN), plus the fact that the Hokies seem to be doing a good job of closing on a large number of their top targets, has sparked the conversation about improved recruiting.

Here’s the question and answer from last week’s Q&A…
