Virginia Tech picked up yet another verbal commitment on Monday. This time it was Massachusetts offensive tackle Johnny Garrett who became the 11th pledge of the class, and the fourth offensive lineman. 247 Sports first made the announcement.
Garrett picked the Hokies over Boston College. Ironically he plays for Boston College High School in Scituate, MA, which is just south of Boston. He plays offensive tackle in high school, and he also projects to play offensive tackle at the college level.
With four offensive line commits for the 2022 class, it’s likely that the Hokies only have room for one more player at that position. The final spot is being held for Lord Botetourt’s Gunner Givens, a 4-star recruit who is expected to decide between Virginia Tech and Penn State sometime soon. The Hokies are considered to be the favorite.
