Virginia Tech Adds Commitment From JUCO OL

Bob Schick
Offensive Line, Class of 2021
Snow College, Ephraim, Utah
6-6, 292

Virginia Tech picked up a verbal commitment from JUCO offensive tackle Bob Schick on Thursday night.  He plays for Snow College in Utah, which is currently 8-0 and ranked No. 2 in the country at the JUCO level.

Schick was originally a member of the 2018 recruiting class.  However, he went on a mission after high school and only enrolled at Snow College in 2020, where he was a true freshman this season.  Since this season doesn’t count towards eligibility purposes, he’ll still be a true freshman for the Hokies when he enrolls this summer, and he’ll have five years to play four.

Snow College will play its final game in early June, and Schick will then report to Blacksburg.  He counts as a member of the 2021 recruiting class.

  1. Looks good against probably inferior talent. He looks like his height or weight is off to me. Should be a good pick up.

  2. Not sure if he can/will contribute right away but I love the upside. Let’s get him in here and start filling out that frame!

      1. Yeah, he didn’t want to go to a team that can only beat their instate rival once every 2 decades. Plus to train under Vance.

        GO HOKIES!!!

  3. A true freshman, older, wiser, and a year under his belt that won’t count. A very good pickup !

  4. Fun fact – that last Snow JC game on 5 June is the NJCAA Championship game against #1 Hutchinson JC. This is a nice late pick up imho, he’s married, mature, and big. A few nice drive and pancake blocks in the highlights.

  5. Has the size to be a Tackle, older and wiser than typical Freshman. So a few years down the road another 1st round OT?

    GO HOKIES!!!

    1. If he becomes NFL caliber then he will be with us for 3 seasons or less. Not many first rounders or players in general are drafted after age 25.

      1. Hey with the portal and/or 3 yrs and declaring, I’m shocked if we have anyone playing for a true 4 years. Then again I think that is the same for all the teams in this era of college football and basketball.
