Caleb Farley went No. 22 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.

The Tennessee Titans selected Virginia Tech cornerback Caleb Farley with the No. 22 overall section in the 2021 NFL Draft on Thursday night.

Farley, who opted out of the 2020 season, was the ACC’s top cover cornerback in 2019 per Pro Football Focus.  In his two-year career for the Hokies, Farley had six interceptions and defended 19 passes.

Once thought to be a potential top 10 draft pick, two back surgeries dropped him down the boards in the weeks leading up to the draft.  As the No. 22 overall pick, Farley’s total contract value is $13.5 million, with a signing bonus of $7.2 million.

  1. I remember Caleb Farley starting at WR in his first VT spring game and absolutely schooling one of VT’s senior CB that got drafted into the NFL later that season. He beat the CB 3 times in a row on a post pattern holding twice and should have been a 3rd holding penalty but I think Caleb scored the touchdown anyway. Caleb is a legit NFL player.

  2. ESPN has Farley’s picture showing for Diablo on their draft preview. Oops… Or maybe foreshadowing that Diablo will have a long NFL career whereas I liked Farley for the few seconds he played for Tech but honestly I think he is overhyped. Remember, the dude can’t tackle but he can catch up and run next to anyone…

  3. happy for him, but did anyone else find it ironic that he opted out of 2020 because of “deep concerns about staying healthy amid the coronavirus pandemic” and then tested positive for COVID this week?

    1. Haha, didn’t even think about that. It was a convenient message at the time – sounded better to the scouts than “I need another year to heal up”.

Best of luck to him. I hope he has a long career like Mr. Hall.

    2. Yes and I have an opinion about that but I’ll keep it to myself. I hope he can overcome his injuries and have a great career in the NFL and represent the VT nation well.

  4. Cha Ching! Can you imagine having no job then the next day $7.5m. Crazy. Congrats to me Farley

  5. Congrats. Now is the time to make a nice donation back to the Hokie Club to repay your scholarship for the next man up.

    1. Or is it possible his back was not fully healed from the first surgery and by opting out he allowed himself additional time to privately heal? We see what happened to his draft stock when it was disclosed he had a second procedure. Like one said above he was probably just looking out for his future.

    2. Disagree. Obviously still hadn’t healed by last season if he needed a second procedure.

    3. Yes I don’t like he didn’t play to help his teammates because of COVID fears but yet now he has COVID.
