Battlefield (Va.) 2022 tight end Wesley Williams and his teammates have kept busy with seven-on-seven football this fall. Williams continues to see his recruiting profile rise, now with nine scholarship offers to his credit. But with the continued NCAA dead period that quashes any in-person contact with coaches and athletics programs, he’s spent much of his time focused on his season, just in a different form than expected.           

“I’ve been trying to work as hard as possible to improve things that I’ve been told by coaches, trainers, my weak spots, and improve those,” Williams said. “I’m working relentlessly so that when I come back, I come back with a vengeance. Next time I hit the field, I’ll be the best version of myself I can possibly be and not waste the time I’ve been given.”           

That’s not to say recruiting has taken a complete backseat. Virginia Tech joined Williams’ list of suitors with an offer of its own. That list also includes Pittsburgh, Virginia, Duke and others, and has given Williams plenty to think about.
