Midnight on Tuesday signified the first time, according to NCAA rules, that college football coaching staffs were allowed to contact members of the 2022 recruiting class, which includes Lord Botetourt (Va.) four-star offensive lineman Gunner Givens.

Givens, ranked No. 48 in the latest Rivals100, has nearly 50 offers. While he’s moving towards trimming his list of suitors, it hasn’t happened yet. That meant Givens had an onslaught of contact from coaches on Tuesday unlike anything he’s had before.

“I woke up in the morning and had like, 180 messages,” he said. “I had 10 Twitter DMs, just from every school. It was crazy. I opened up my mailbox and it all just literally fell out. It’s been wild. Penn State sent a whole bunch of stuff. I’ve talked to everyone that’s offered, Virginia Tech, UVA, Clemson, ‘Bama, LSU, pretty much everybody.”
