TSL Polls: The Impact of COVID-19 And Fan Participation, Donations, Etc.

Here at TSL, we are trying to get a feel for the potential impacts of COVID-19 on the Virginia Tech fanbase.  We came up with a series of polls for those of you who are season ticket holders for football and donate to the Hokie Club.  Please answer each as best you can, and feel free to leave any comments in the comments section or on the message boards.  Thanks for participating!

  3. I am going to buy season tickets again because I think I can get better seats than in past years due to my movement up the priority ladder. If it wasn’t a total reseating year I might pass on the tickets and just donate. I think the movement is due to folks with higher priority dropping out. So – I’ll buy tickets and be happy to attend games this year. If not and they refund the money – then I’ll still have the seats until the next reseating (my guess is 3 more years, seems to be the norm).

  4. I’m not optimistic about college football this fall since it will be totally up to our “Governor” and he has no incentive to get back to normal (what ever that becomes) anytime soon. I hope I’m wrong.

  5. I will be 79 years soon !!!! Continuous season tickets since 1987. Contributor before 1987. Have made
my contribution this year and purchased season tickets. Will be in Lane this fall if we have football.
If we do not have football hope some consideration will be given to contributors who have given. If
not. If not it will not be the end of the world!!!!!! Go HOKIES !!!!!

    1. I’m soon 75 and been continuous season ticket holder and Hokie Club contributor since 1975 and hope the Wuhan China Virus does not ruin college football this upcoming season. I will be there if we play without a mask or gloves!

  6. After being a Hokie Club member and season ticket holder for over 20 years,I have decided not to renew this year. It has nothing to do with the virus. I am just at a point in life(turning 65 later this year)where I have other things I would like to do with my time and money. I will still watch VT football games on TV.

  7. I want Football. I will be there even if you told me I have a 50% chance of getting Covid!

  8. I just moved to the area for the first time since college and have already donated and paid for season tickets and a parking pass for the first time. I really hope I get to enjoy them!

  9. Guys, please add a “not applicable “ response option. When a question begins with, “if you…” we need a way to respond.

    1. N/A would be a good choice to have….but it’s also fine if you just skip that question and DO answer the ones that do apply to you.

      1. It would possibly be a little more clear if a N/A button was available. However, in my case, I did indeed just skip over those that didn’t apply to me, which were most of them, since I made my contribution and purchased tickets before the disease descended up us.

  10. I stated not sure on donating all or part of any refund for Season tickets if the season were not held. I would only consider doing so IF every senior employee and staff member were to take at least a 1 x pay cut in order to retain that staff and show donors, alumni that they are doing everything to support the University. In this regard, I am referring to the AD, Head coaches, Hokie Club representatitives in particular. And even lesser support positions. Likely on a graduating scale of 30% down to 5% depending on income. I am not going to contribute anything if the Athletic Department thinks this is “business as usual” for them

  11. I have ordered tickets but haven’t made my donation yet. Due to being a 100% commission sales rep I’m not sure I’m going to continue my commitment. A lot of unknowns and not to mention we can’t write off tickets to customers anymore. I have been a Platinum Hokie but definitely will not stay at that level.

  12. Well I wouldn’t just consider donating my season ticket money, I’d definitely do it. Only question is do sport specific donations fund operations for that sport or just scholarships? If so I might earmark it that way
