Alec Bryant commits to Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech received a commitment from 4-star defensive end Alec Bryant from Pearland, Texas. Bryant is the top-rated recruit of Virginia Tech’s 2020 recruiting class.

Bryant is a one-time LSU commit who verbaled to the Tigers in February but decommitted on November 24th. That’s when his recruitment by the Hokies, who offered him in January, heated up. Per the 247Sports.com database, Bryant only took two official visits, to LSU in October and Virginia Tech last weekend. Bryant told Rivals.com’s Sam Spiegelman in late September, while still committed to LSU, that he was shutting down his recruitment, so when he decommitted from the Tigers he entered a whirlwind recruitment by Virginia Tech that culminated in his signing today with the Hokies.

Bryant had offers from a host of Power 5 schools, including LSU, USC, Arizona, Arkansas, Miami, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, and more, approximately 25 offers overall.

Bryant has said that he will graduate in December and enroll in January. If he holds to that plan, he’ll be available for Virginia Tech’s 2020 spring practice.
