Parker Clements Commits To Virginia Tech

Parker Clements
Offensive Tackle, Class of 2020
Lugoff Elgin High School, Elgin, SC
6-7, 270

Virginia Tech secured a verbal commitment from South Carolina offensive tackle Parker Clements on Thursday night.  He becomes the 10th member of Tech’s 2020 recruiting class.

Clements is a 3-star prospect as rated by 247Sports, and the No. 24 player in the state of South Carolina.  Rivals ranks him as the No. 18 player in South Carolina, while ESPN pegs him at No. 16.  He chose Virginia Tech over offers from Power 5 programs NC State, Louisville and Kansas State.

Clements was recruited by offensive line coach Vance Vice.

    1. You might have missed Noah Kim’s decommitment.

247 shows 11 commitments, but that’s because they’re including 2019 commitment Jahad Carter in their list. We do not include commitments from prior years in this year’s commits.

  1. Good pick up. I like seeing depth being built on O line. Looks like a Chris Coleman special: always be redshirting!

    1. appears to me he has a bit of a mean streak once he comes out of his stance, and he doesn’t mind abusing his foe until whistles have finished blowing.

      Go Hokies!

  2. How does a guy like this not get an offer from USCe or Clemson? Elgin is in the next county east of
    Columbia SC.

      1. Per 247, the Gamecocks already have 12 OTs on their roster, plus 2 more OTs committed for the 2020 class. That’s a very high number, probably explains why they didn’t offer him. By comparison, Tech has 8 OTs on the roster, and Clements is the only OT commit in the Hokies’ 2020 class.
