  1. I’m looking forward to see what beer label Mr. Coleman will come up with for this mandatory Davis beer can (a la Stick-it-in Ale, which I love)? May I suggest “4-star DD Ale”.

  2. Finally getting back to our true identity, recruiting dual threat, modern day QBs. Only took a decade but better late than never.

  3. Welcome to the HokieNation!

Long time to LOI but could be pivotal moment in Tech recruiting and Fuente’s tenure.

Looks like a perfect match of skills to Fuente offensive scheme.

  4. Initial impression: he looks like a right-handed Tua Tagovailoa. Not a tall kid, but strong and accurate arm.

    1. I was thinking he looked like McNabb on the roll outs and also his stance. He’s pretty solid looking. Not fast but elusive.

    1. Katy’s football stadium where I live was $75M. All district High Schools (8, about to be 9) play at Legacy Field. My son just played a Youth Football game at Legacy, it was very cool for a 10 year old to get on that field.

  5. All I can think of is the old joke from the movie Fletch, except with this one it’s he is 5’11, 6’3 with the fro. Hope he puts on some additional height and speed but a Russell Wilson comparison is awesome.

    1. With his skills, if he was 6’3″ he’d be the #1 recruit in the nation. Guy can flat-out fly and has a cannon arm + nice release. Only knock I can see on him is he’s under 6 feet.

  6. There are some 6A Texas high schools that would be competitive in college conferences. You don’t win a Texas 6A state championship without a solid QB.

  7. This is awesome news! However, as a RATT (I try) how his official visits play out is concerning to me.

As a junior, he may want to take some visits. Is that gonna sit well with Fu? Does he get a special dispensation? Is Fu done with QB’s in this class?

This kid is special. He could be a Tyrod 2.0, who knows? 🤷🏻‍♂️ Really hope this works out and I can’t wait to hear the backstory on his recruitment.

    1. Agreed…looks like “Tyrod 2.0”.
Now lets hope we can hold off the wolves over the next year cause we all know they’re not done tryin!!

  8. Not to be NATT, but rather RATT – I hope he stays committed. Juniors change their minds. Despite a “hard” commit to VT, crystal balls still say “80%”, w 20% undecided. A full year plus to go til signing day. Would be an awesome get!

    1. But remember he won’t come here because it is too long to signing day and also VT doesn’t deserve a high 4 recruit like this

      1. yup, bc Fuente cannot recruit. hes actually awful at recruiting. just look at our 2020 class. what a joke.

        1. Keep that same energy when he decommitts 12 months from today to stay home in Texas. For Baylor,Texas A&M,Texas,Oklahoma, LSU. As tech fans we have seen this movie before.

          1. +1, a lot of storied programs between Tex and VA. But I have eaten crow before, so serve me up should this stick !

  9. He reminds me of VT freshman Tyrod Taylor now, as a high school Jr. This is going to be a loooong 13 months.

  10. Has to be fake news, we’ve been told by some that we only get 3* recruits. Looks like a good get, hopefully he doesn’t decommit.

    1. Exactly who he reminded me of. Footwork, sense of pocket, not MV1 speed, but very elusive in the pocket and running.

  11. Just watching his mid-season Junior highlights, this guy can make all the throws, has great touch on the ball, sets up his receivers for YAC, seems to execute the RPO well, finds the hot read when blitzed, keeps his eyes downfield when scrambling and is elusive and quick when carrying the ball…
