Virginia Tech received a verbal commitment on Friday afternoon from Florida safety prospect Keonta Jenkins, who announced his decision on Twitter.  He becomes the 10th commitment of the 2020 recruiting class.

Jenkins attends Jean Ribault High School in Jacksonville, FL.  He was recruited by Justin Hamilton and Charley Wiles, choosing the Hokies over USF, Indiana, Vanderbilt, and others.  He becomes the second safety to commit to Virginia Tech in the 2020 class, joining Virginia Beach’s Lakeem Rudolph.

  1. welcome Mr. Keonta Jenkins! in the mold of and lineage of Kam “BamBam” Chancellor, Divine Deablo, Terrell Edmunds, and Aaron Rouse, et al, we welcome you to DBU.

even more impressive is the fact we’ve received Mr. Jenkins verbal – – despite CBF stepping aside and a new D Coordinator yet to be named. great work CJH and CCW!

    Go Hokies!

  2. Hope he has a great career. List of schools against whom we competed for him however not super impressive.

    1. One of those schools recruiting him was Virginia Tech and that”s impressive enough to me.

    2. Reality is- no sense long term in trying to hire a DC before Christmas.

Price of greatness is a short term dearth of top D players who might commit without knowing who the next DC is.

There are other things I can pin on Fuente- this is not one of them. This is a good commit given present conditions.

  3. Ribault HS in Jacksonville is a longtime supplier of football talent for colleges.

    1. Yep, he will be 6’3″ and 220/225 by the time he plays for VT. LOVE the measurables and combined with JHam’s coaching…Future is still bright!

      1. Will JHam be staying after Bud’s departure? Hopefully the new DC will keep the staff!
