Lakeem Rudolph Commits To Virginia Tech

Lakeem Rudolph
Safety, Class of 2020
Green Run High School, Virginia Beach, VA
6-4, 202

Green Run (VA) athlete Lakeem Rudolph committed to Virginia Tech on Wednesday night.  Listed as a wide receiver by most recruiting sites, Rudolph is being recruited as a safety by the Tech coaching staff.

Rudolph picked the Hokies over offers from Cincinnati, East Carolina, ODU, Marshall, and others.  A car accident during his junior season of high school limited his development and hurt his recruitment, but he has made a full recovery.

At 6-4, 202, the Tech coaches like Rudolph’s frame and his overall athletic ability.  From a size and athleticism standpoint, he compares favorably to Virginia Tech’s current starting free safety, Divine Deablo.  Free safety is likely where Rudolph will begin his career in Blacksburg.

Rudolph is the sixth commitment of the 2020 recruiting class.

  1. welcome to Virginia Tech, young man. we see great things ahead for you – whether at S or DE. maybe even at WR on goal line jump-ball situations.

( ( ( ps: what’s with the gt bracelet in the otherwise diabolic VT “born to be a Hokie” posterization ) ) )

    Go Hokies!

  2. Great under the radar recruit that we were on first because injury. Hokies see him as safety, he brings the thunder in his tape but needs to learn to wrap up. He could be a great wr too

  3. Wonderful to have you aboard. You will always have your best days as a hokie!

    1. Welcome Lakeem, forget these types of comments…glad to have you join the Nation.

  4. Committed, not sighed. Some commit & then leave for what they think is a better offer. I’ll wait until he sighs his LOI.

    1. If you’re truly worried about it you may want to wait until he signs. Sighing over it doesn’t do us any good. 😆

  5. Like it. Early ID ahead of big dawgs in recruiting. 6’4” 202 now will be a solid 225 lb safety by his Soph year

  6. Good get, what ever happened to him in the accident I hope he is good to go. Has been taught the proper way to catch passes.

        1. Was thinking the same thing!

Then we’d have Bam Bam the running back practicing against Bam Bam the FS!!

  7. Greetings from the HOKIE Nation. Dang you are one tall dude for Safety.

    1. Kam Chancellor was 6’3” & 225 lbs. His height will serve him well against tall receivers. Hopefully, he has the speed, toughness and football IQ to play safety like Kam.
