Brunson, rated as a 3-star player by 247Sports.com, has 16 listed offers, including two Power 5 offers from Boston College and Virginia Tech. Brunson visited Virginia Tech on June 4th, received an offer on June 8th, and committed today, on June 25th.

Brunson’s other offers are from Akron, Charlotte, Chattanooga, Coastal Carolina, Colorado State, Elon, Georgia State, Kent State, Miami (OH), ODU, Southern Illinois, Tennessee Tech, Western Carolina, and Western Michigan.

Brunson played for Class 7A South Forsyth High School through his junior season, but will play his senior season for Class 4A Denmark High School, which opened in 2018 to help alleviate overcrowding at South Forsyth and West Forsyth.

During his junior season at South Forsyth, Brunson rushed for 935 yards on 198 carries (4.7 ypc), with four 100-yard games. He scored a team-high 15 touchdowns.

Brunson’s verbal gives the Hokies five recruits in the class of 2020.

  1. happy to get a good sized RB but is BC his only other power 5 offer….? Sometimes I wonder if Fu is recruiting like he still is a Memphis which was very good for his league but not so much for ACC

    Any numbers on his speed….looks powerfully built…might grow into a great fullback.

    I wonder how many of the negative naybobs were cheering Sam Rogers commitment….I think he had zero offers…funny how things work out.

  3. I hope he does great, but we need 4/5 star RB’s in order to get this program back to where it was, not 3 stars…………why is this so hard?

    1. Becasue Fu has not historically gone with a featured back. He likes the rotational committee structure. He’s not going to get a stud RB

  5. I used to live in that area, and I was thinking “Denmark High School?”, then I read the rest, and did a little Google work, it’s relieving the pressure on South Forsyth and West Forsyth, as that county is growing like wildfire, as people live further and further away from Atlanta and commute.

    I don’t know about this kid, but there is an awful lot of talent around metro Atlanta, just due to the numbers. The number of 2000, 2500+ kid schools is staggering. I don’t want to feel like we get the leftovers after Georgia, Georgia Tech, Clemson, Auburn, and Alabama are done, but I suspect even the “leftovers” are as good as what we used to get from Tidewater.

    1. Unfortunately, IMHO that isn’t correct. I live 15 minutes from both Denmark and South Forsyth HS’s and had two kids that went to Lambert HS (another Forsyth County school). Denmark is going to be a great school (last year was it’s first year, it has an equestrian program with huge stables, etc.) but in general Forsyth football is pretty average. My kids were in the band and I met and became friends with our local state rep. He essentially said that they petitioned the state GHSA to have all of the schools in the county in one region because they knew if they were put in a region with Gwinnett Co schools (for example) they would be non-competitive. So essentially all of the upper income suburban schools play each other in a region and then most lose in their first round playoff games against outside opponents.

      This kid could be awesome but the competition he is going to play isn’t top notch, despite playing in the largest classification in the state.

      1. Just looked at his video above. My guess is that if he played against tougher competition he would be a 4-star. He seems to have power to break through tackles that we don’t seem to have on the roster at the moment.

        I’ll have to drive over and watch them play this Fall.

        1. I think Jalen Holston came on very strong toward the end of last season. He showed toughness. He had quite a few yards after contact, and he got better as the season progressed. If he can stay healthy, I think he could be a bright spot for this offense — Feaster or no.
