It stands to reason that growing up, Robinson (Va.) 2021 offensive tackle Tristan Leigh had heard only one side of the Commonwealth Clash between Virginia and Virginia Tech. Leigh’s father, Stan Leigh, played for the Hoos from 1990-94.

The younger Leigh has now gotten a feel for both sides. Now at 11 offers, including Virginia Tech, Virginia, Maryland, Michigan, North Carolina and Penn State, Tristan Leigh said he’s tried to understand both schools in that rivalry, in addition to all the schools that have offered him. He got to see both Virginia and Virginia Tech multiple times this spring, as he tries to sort through a recruitment that is largely just beginning.

“My dad played at UVA, so I would always hear stories about UVA,” Tristan said. “I always heard the UVA side. When I started talking to Virginia Tech, I got excited because I could learn about it. I just like hanging with the coaches, and I like that campus a lot.”
