Over the course of the past few years, Walkertown (NC) four-star guard Jalen Cone has seen his recruitment explode. At least part of that can be contributed to Cone’s growth into more of an extrovert.

Cone has now become one of the hotter basketball targets in the country, and he’s put himself in position to possibly get to the college level a year earlier than expected. Cone attributes part of his appeal to his comfort in speaking.

“I’ve done tons of interviews,” he said. “Other people say (I sound confident). When I was young, I had a bad stuttering problem. I couldn’t get a word out. My mom is an English teacher, so she’s getting on me about my grammar. I just slow down and talk. Everything I’m telling you is everything I know.”
