Defensive Tackle, Class of 2019

6-2, 246

Many outside of those who grew up with him or went to high school with him might not realize Norell Pollard at one point considered himself a basketball player first. The 6-2, 246-pound defensive tackle didn’t fully commit to football until two years ago.

Now, Pollard is happy with his decision to focus fully on football. He’s also happy with his decision to sign his letter of intent in December and join what he considers a dynamic 2019 recruiting class for Virginia Tech. It’s just a matter of getting himself fully ready to go when he arrives in Blacksburg in June.

“Like I always said, it just felt like home,” Pollard said. “I think about it every day. I thought about it yesterday, and when I went to visit for Notre Dame (game), they had us (sitting) by the players. Most schools have you up in the stands. They don’t have you by the players. We were literally by the training table. When they got hurt, we talked to them. It’s like you’re part of the team already. You can hear and see everything that’s going on. I still feel like I made the best decision for me.”
