Virginia Tech’s 2019 recruiting class is complete. The Hokies signed 22 players overall in the 2019 class, including three new players on Wednesday.
The new signees are…
4-star OL Doug Nester
2-star QB Knox Kadum
3-star JUCO DT Jaden Cunningham
4-star linebacker Eugene Asante signed with North Carolina over Tech, Maryland, Nebraska, Florida State, and a few others. Other than that, Signing Day went very well for the Hokies, and it was highlighted by flipping Nester from Ohio State, where he had been committed since August of 2017.
Jahad Carter, an athlete from the Richmond area, was a Virginia Tech commit. However, he did not sign with the Hokies on Wednesday, and the plan is for him to attend Fork Union Military Academy. Tech could continue to recruit him as a member of the 2020 class.
Virginia Tech signed seven four-star players per the TSL rankings, as well as the 247 Composite: OL Doug Nester, OL Bryan Hudson, S JR Walker, WR Jaden Payoute, WR Tayvion Robinson, RB Keshawn King and WR Jacoby Pinckney. Six of those seven players were offensive recruits, with five of them being wide receivers or offensive linemen.

Sounds pretty good to this close to novice for this class. From experience, it is rare that the classes turn out better than expected. Glad to see us ranked 3rd/26th. Need more space between us and pUVA. Go Hokies!
Sounds like we’re not as focused on defensive recruiting since CJF has arrived. It took last year to realize how bad off we were at DL. We’re bringing in stud OL and WRs, but I’m concerned that the defense were known for and used to seeing is starting to vanish before our eyes. Time will tell.
I don’t think that’s the case at all. In 2017, we signed three defensive ends, two of which were 4-star players. We’ve overrecruited linebacker to the point where there will be transfers because guys won’t be able to play (like Kearney). There’s no lack of focus. Whether or not they’ve done a good job at certain spots is debatable, but they’ve certainly tried to bring in the players.
