Quarterback, Class of 2019
Rome High School, Rome, GA
6-3, 185

Virginia Tech picked up a 2019 quarterback commitment from Rome High School’s (Rome, GA) Knox Kadum on Saturday night.

Kadum was a James Madison commit until his visit to Blacksburg this weekend.  With Josh Jackson and Hendon Hooker entering their names into the transfer portal, the Virginia Tech coaching staff felt it was imperative that they take a quarterback in the 2019 class.  He also held FBS offers from Akron, Georgia Southern, Tulane and Rutgers.

Kadum won the state championship his last two years at Rome High School.  In a 4-year career as a starter, he completed 64.5% of his passes for 7,400 yards, with 76 touchdowns and 15 interceptions while rushing for 2,414 yards and 37 touchdowns.  As a senior, he had 21 touchdown passes and zero interceptions to go along with 619 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns.

    1. I’m going to have trouble with that “Casey Keenum,” “Casey Kasem”…

Probably need to repeat it a few times like sportscasters before a game.

    1. Why? we bulk and coach him up and if we don’t need him in a couple years, guess where he transfers to?

  1. 0 INT sr year to go with 21 TD’s? That kind of a ratio at any level of competition is crazy. This kid obviously doesn’t make a lot of mistakes. He could be coached up into something special in case all of our highly rated stud muffins turn out to be flashes in the pan.

  2. Coach Fu will make this guy a star. Very smart grab here. Welcome to Hokie Nation Knox!

  3. Coach Fuente is a good judge of quarterback potential. I believe that he will be a real asset to our Hokies.

  4. Welcome to the Hokie Nation. We are thrilled to have you play for the Hokies and look forward to meeting you. Go Hokies!!!!!

  5. Not trying to be funny but because we’re trying to fill a hole here, that is, backup behind QP in 2020 and someone comes along in the 2020 class of the 4-star variety (I’m pretty sure we’re working on that) and we don’t need him as much any more… he can stil transfer to JMU, bulked up and ready to go. It could work out for everyone, JMU would be happy, he’s probably thrilled to finally pick up a D1 offer but might enjoy starting in his last couple years, friends at VT? he or they can still drop by. win-win.

  6. I do not get the lack of offers. Looks like he can sling it. Get him the S&C room and bulk him up a bit. Seems like very good undiscovered talent from a powerhouse HS program.

    1. Yeah, that’s my thought too. 6′ 3″ is tall enough. 185…with the height he has, adding 20 to 25 shouldn’t be a challenge. Throw in the high school numbers, 2 state titles in a tough state for HS ball and I can’t figure out why he’s only 2 star with Rutgers being his ‘best’ offer.

  7. 247 Composite has him ranked as a 3-star right now. Not sure how this guy flew so far under the radar. He looks incredibly accurate with his passes. We may have uncovered a really good one here.

    1. Rome Georgia is not exactly LA or New York… I don’t get it either as he has been a star for 3 years in the Northwest corner of Georgia. He will be a good one imho!

  8. Two recruiting sites had him listed at 6′-3″ and one at 6′-2″. So I guess he’s 6′-2 2/3″.

Nice height. Now he just needs to gain 25 lbs.

    1. Well if he is really 6’2 then the other guy in that photo is 6’10”.

Still, nice to pick up another QB and here’s hoping he is Trace McSorley’s twin brother….

  9. If he led his team to two state championships in a tough place like GA how come he’s only a two stars we are his biggest offer?

    1. and that high school program is consistently stacked with d1 players, Griffin is from the same high school

    2. Rome High is a power house in their region; but they are like the Sun Belts in High School. Good competition, but not the greatest.
