Wide Receiver, Class of 2020
Dutch Fork High School, Irmo, SC
6-2, 165

Virginia Tech picked up a commitment on Saturday from 3-star wide receiver Jalin Hyatt, a member of the 2020 recruiting class.  He is the third commitment of the 2020 class for the Hokies.

Hyatt, from Dutch Fork High School in Irmo, SC, picked the Hokies over an offer list that included Arkansas, Duke, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia and Wake Forest.  He caught 71 passes for 1,316 yards (18.5 yards per catch) and 21 touchdowns as a junior in 2018.

Hyatt was recruited by tight ends coach/special teams coordinator James Shibest and new wide receivers coach Jafar Williams.

  1. Who is the QB in those highlights? Lots of time Hyatt is lined up on the numbers with the ball on the far hash marks and the QB gets him the ball. That’s a long pass and the guy is accurate including on fades in the corner end zone.

    1. I’m not sure, but it may be same kid we tried to recruit last year. Irmo is a suburb of Columbia. I think he was interested in VT, but got an offer from USCe and is going there. One of my best friends lived in Irmo for a few years with his family, so my antennae have gone up when I hear or read the name Irmo.

  2. I’d be as interested in what he thought of our new wr coach as much as coach Williams thinks of him. Sure, it’s probably too early, Williams couldn’t have spent much time on this offer, but somewhere along the line they must have shook hands. For what it’s worth a good sign.
