1) If you could hire one assistant football coach, who would you hire and why? – reece4vt

Chris Coleman: I’m not sold on Virginia Tech’s cornerback recruiting right now.  Fuente himself said at the Signing Day press conference that the lead recruiter for individual players these days is generally the position coach, with help from the area recruiter, which naturally puts cornerbacks coach Brian Mitchell in the spotlight.  That’s not always the case, but in general the position coach plays a larger role in the recruitment of specific players than he used to.

I thought Mitchell did an awesome job developing Greg Stroman, and Brandon Facyson as well. Both guys are playing in the NFL right now…Facyson as an undrafted rookie free agent.  I think he’s a good coach.  But I’m just not sold on him as a recruiter.  Caleb Farley has potential, and you have to give Mitchell credit for Jeremy Webb as well.  That’s an unfortunate situation.  But I don’t see a single true corner in this 2019 recruiting class, with the exception of Jahad Carter, who has an academic situation and may or may not end up playing for Tech.
