Yavuz Gultekin Commits To Virginia Tech

Yavuz Gultekin
Power Forward, Class of 2019
Bishop Walsh School, Bel Air, MD
6-7, 190

Virginia Tech received another basketball commitment on Wednesday when 3-star power forward Yavuz Gultekin verballed to Buzz Williams.  He announced his commitment on Instagram.

Gultekin is somewhat of a surprise commitment.  He chose the Hokies over listed offers of Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, TCU, Old Dominion, Georgetown, Kansas State, Penn State, and several others.  He attends Bishop Walsh School in Bel Air, MD, which is north of Baltimore.  He is listed at 6-7, 190 by 247Sports, and 6-8, 193 by Rivals.

Gultekin is originally from Turkey, and he has a lot of experience in international basketball.

Here are Gultekin’s ratings and rankings by the various recruiting services…

247: 3-star, No. 181 overall prospect, No. 32 PF
Rivals: 3-star, No. 149 overall prospect, No. 33 SF
ESPN: 3-star, No. 53 SF

Gultekin is Virginia Tech’s third commitment of the 2019 class, joining guards Anthony Harris and Andre Gordon.  2019 power forward CJ Felder is also expected to announce his decision later this week, and the Hokies are arguably the favorite to land him.

  1. What are the stats on CJ Felder: height, weight, where he is playing at now, position, star rating and offers?

    Thanks.

  2. Ah, I live in Bel Air, MD and… Well there is no Bishop Walsh High School around here.

  3. Based on the film, he looks like a candidate for the 2 or 3 spot. Does not appear physical enough for a 4. Looks good at the 2 spot to me.

  4. interesting prospect with his ability to handle and run with the full court international game. I’ll be interested to see what Zeke has to say.
