Virginia Tech men’s basketball received a commitment from 2019 combo guard Andre Gordon on Monday night.

Gordon is the second commitment of the 2019 class, and second combo guard, joining Anthony Harris of Paul VI Catholic in Fairfax.  He plays for Huntington Prep in West Virginia, and he is originally from Ohio.  He is expected to primarily play the point guard position for Virginia Tech.

Gordon also held scholarship offers from Boston College, Xavier, Dayton and DePaul, among others.  247Sports ranks him as the No. 195 recruit in the country.  He is a 3-star recruit according to Rivals.com and ESPN.

The 2019 class is projected to be a big one for the Hokies, and they are expected to take several more commitments.

    1. this! i’m 5’11” on the dot and i’ve stood next to buzz. something isn’t right.

  1. Buzz is working with the “Rule Change Committee” and require all games to be played with only guards. We need some BIG GUYs, Please!!

    1. The sky isn’t falling, but you better hope our roster full of guards never misses a shot against the teams we’re always going to face in the ACC and/or in the NCAA’s. I love Buzz. There’s no doubt VT is light years ahead of what we’re used to in men’s basketball, but if the standard is to be a top tier ACC team, much less a consistent factor in the NCAA’s (meaning not one-and-done any time we get there), then get used to being a second tier program in the best conference in D1 basketball until Buzz brings in some quality size that can score, defend and rebound with the teams who do have it.

      1. Agreed – 6’2” guards and 6’6” wings are only going to take you so far no matter how talented they are. Buzz either can’t or won’t focus on recruiting talented big men and it will cost him W s this year as soon as foul trouble or fatigue slows his only Big man.

      2. I agree to an extent but, quality big men are hard to get because most go to the blue bloods. Buzz did get a nice 6’-7” player (Landers Nolley) that will be a freshman this year which is going to be a beast on the boards. He will secure a true big man before KJ graduates (hopefully two).
