Watching Monday night on television, Potomac Falls (Va.) three-star linebacker Dean Ferguson saw more than just Virginia Tech’s 24-3 win at Florida State. He saw what he’d been told first-hand about the defense. He also saw himself playing and the role he could have in future similar games.

Ferguson committed to the Hokies on Aug. 17. Ranked as Rivals.com’s No. 53 safety in the country and the No. 20 prospect in Virginia for 2019, Ferguson has a different role in store. It’s one that has helped solidify his decision to commit.           

It’s also a role that Ferguson watched unfold intently on Monday night. He’d already discussed it previously with defensive coordinator Bud Foster.
