On July 29, Deerfield Beach (Fla.) three-star defensive lineman Brandon Dorlus and his parents made the trek to Virginia Tech for the Hokies’ Blacksburg Bash barbecue. He didn’t make a decision there, at least to the coaching staff. It didn’t take long, however, for him to come to a consensus.           

Last Thursday, Dorlus announced his commitment to Virginia Tech. His top five also consisted of Clemson, Nebraska, Florida and Kentucky. Now, Dorlus has his sights on getting himself ready for the college level, in addition to being the plug the Hokies have been looking for.           

“The biggest factor for me was when I went up there with my family, the way they treated me and my family,” Dorlus said. “It felt good because I know they’ll care when I come for the next three to four years. I committed on the spot, when I got back home.”
