Virginia Tech got some good news on Monday night when Wekiva High School (Apopka, FL) defensive tackle Norell Pollard gave the coaching staff his verbal commitment.

Pollard is being recruited to play defensive tackle for the Hokies, a position that is very important in the 2019 recruiting class.  He is listed with 16 other Power 5 scholarship offers in the 247Sports database, including Miami, Florida, Louisville, Mississippi State, NC State, and others.

Pollard becomes the ninth commitment of the 2019 class, and the fifth player that is expected to play defense.  He is the first defensive lineman to verbal in this class.

The Hokies want to take two more defensive tackles in this class, and as of now Bishop Sullivan’s Adarious Jones and Kissimmee, FL’s Mario Kendricks are their other two preferred options.  Kendricks is expected to make his decision on June 30, and Virginia Tech is considered to be the favorite.

  1. Welcome Mr Pollard…We are thrilled to have you as a part of our Hokie family….You will LOVE IT!

  2. welcome Mr Pollard ! Go Hokies !

please contact Mr Kendricks and Mr Jones and have them join us, as well. an AJ MK NP with CG Dline sounds like fun! for CCW, CBF and the Hokies.

  3. It is actually Wekiva High School. Only one A at the end. I saw Wekiva High School play in the playoffs this past season. They soundly beat my kids high school! They had a very good season and several players from their team this season are going to other great schools. They beat Apopka High School this year which was huge for them as Wekiva is a relatively new high school and Apopka is the perennial power in that part of town.

  4. Whew…Glad we have one on board. Need the other two to fill the gap at DT.
