2019 Virginia Tech Football Recruiting Update

Virginia Tech had a monster recruiting weekend for the Spring Game, as usual. Thanks to new NCAA rules allowing official visits to be pushed up to the spring, they also hosted a pair of 2019 official visitors. Today we’re going to talk about where the Hokies stand with recruiting the 2019 class here in late April of 2018.

Don’t view this article as a comprehensive list of all prospects the Hokies are recruiting. Instead, I just want to hit on the big names that we’re all hearing about and discuss what I think Tech’s chances are of landing each player.

A Note About Defensive Ends and Linebackers

Before we get into the heart of the article, I want to point out that defensive end and linebacker recruiting will be very light to non-existent this year. Virginia Tech’s roster is loaded down with young players at both positions, which makes it very difficult to recruit to those two spots. That’s the downside of overrecruiting over the period of 1-2 recruiting classes…it might be another two years before you are able to sign a player at that spot.
