Class of 2018 Defensive Tackle Jamarcus Chatman Nearing a Decision

On Wednesday, Rome (Ga.) defensive tackle Jamarcus Chatman will announce where he’ll go to school and play football. Four schools remain, but with National Signing Day just hours away, Chatman still is trying to make a decision.

Chatman, a former Tennessee and LSU commit, says he’s extremely close to making the call. There’s a list of criteria that Chatman has bounced around. He did it when he made official visits to all four finalists — Virginia Tech, Miami, Florida State and North Carolina — and it’s still factoring into his decisions down to the wire.

“I want it to be a school…for one, I’m going to pray about it,” Chatman said. “All four schools are ones that will help me after football. I’m not looking for a straight football school. I want one that will provide for me 40 years from now. I want one that will help me, not just me help them.”

Chatman, a consensus three-star prospect who stands at 6-foot-2 and 258 pounds, made his official visit to Virginia Tech on Jan. 19. The Hokies have been a contender thanks to a few factors, including a familiar face.
