The way Cox High Schoool (Virginia Beach, Va.) four-star athlete Tayvion Robinson approaches his recruitment is different. He knows what questions to ask, what aspects to look for, and how to read those he comes in contact with.

That was the case again Jan. 14, when Robinson (5-foot-10, 165 pound) returned to Blacksburg for Virginia Tech’s junior day. It also helped put his recruitment a bit more in perspective, as he now gains a sense of when he might make a decision.

Robinson, an athlete who is ranked No. 201 in the 2019 Rivals250, now claims 11 offers, most recently from Tennessee, Ohio State, Old Dominion and South Carolina. And with those, as with any other offer, he’s looking at the details.

“At first, it was just what’s good for me, like how I see the college,” Robinson said. “Now, I want my parents to feel good about the school I want to go to as well. I’ve taken them on a lot of visits, to meet coaches and get a vibe. If they don’t get a good vibe, there’s something I’m missing. It’s still the same relationship with the coaches, like how the program is looking, what I want to study, stuff like that.”
