Virginia Tech came away with a critical 80-69 victory over No. 10 North Carolina on Monday night in Cassell Coliseum. It was Tech’s first quality win of the season, and though they’ll need at least two or three more top-50 wins to make the NCAA Tournament, it was a step in the right direction.
Today, I’m going to focus on a couple of things. First, the importance of Kerry Blackshear, not only in last night’s win, but throughout the season. Second, how Buzz Williams has completely changed his coaching style in the middle of the season to suit his team’s needs.
The Importance of Blackshear
Kerry Blackshear is important to Virginia Tech for two reasons.
1) He’s the only player in the rotation over 6-foot-6.
2) He might be the best player on the team.
