Tim Settle Prepared to Overcome Doubt After Declaring Early for 2018 NFL Draft

This is the first part of a sit-down with both Tim Settle and Wyatt Teller, two former Virginia Tech players preparing for the 2018 NFL Draft. Today’s article focuses on Settle’s decision to declare for the NFL Draft as a redshirt sophomore.

Tim Settle has been doubted for much of his life, especially when it came to football.

The doubt started in high school. As a 6-foot-2, 361-pound behemoth at Stonewall Jackson High School in Manassas, Va., Settle was a highly-touted defensive tackle prospect. Settle had zero troubles on the field, dominating competition and drawing interest from college football programs across the country. Settle says he held roughly 50 scholarship offers, and eventually lost count.

“It got to the point where I was just like, ‘It’s another offer,’” Settle said.
