The transformation has been so obvious, even he’s noticed himself. It was a process that included his own physical and mental growth, and that process has allowed consensus 4-star defensive end Joseph Weté from Gonzaga High School in Washington DC has become one of the most sought-after recruits in the country.

Offers from USC and Kentucky have driven the 6-foot-3, 225-pound Weté’s total to 16. But Virginia Tech was the first the school to offer, and that has certainly stuck with Weté.

It’s still early in the recruiting process, and Weté is still looking at his suitors, including which ones he’ll visit this spring and summer.

“I’m blessed that I have a lot of options.,” Weté said. “I get to be picky and say I want amazing academics and a high quality of football. Also, a really good environment to play in. It’s the whole package. I’m looking for the best all-around school for me.”
