Dukes Taking In Visits, Including Virginia Tech

It’s been a busy fall for First Baptist Christian Academy (SC) 2019 running back Michel Dukes (5-10, 190). The three-star prospect has taken numerous visits, and this weekend he’ll be playing for a state title.

Saturday, the Hurricanes will take on Trinity-Byrnes (SC) in the SCISA AA state championship game. For Dukes, this fall has been about managing and improving himself on the field, but also readying himself for the next level. Any advancement in his recruitment, however, is still some time away.

“I think I grew as a player and a teammate this season,” Dukes said. “I’m just leading the team, trusting in myself and being a better leader. I think I got stronger, my vision got better and that’s the main thing. I gained some weight, too. I’m trying to keep working on my speed, pre-step.”

Dukes now has six offers, after Virginia Tech offered Oct. 28, when he visited for the Hokies’ win over Duke. Dukes also has offers from North Carolina, South Carolina, Wake Forest, Old Dominion and Georgia State.
