Artis is a senior from Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Va. He’s rated as a 3-star prospect by both Rivals and 247Sports’ Composite rating, but is rated as a 4-star prospect by ESPN. Artis holds 17 scholarship offers, including offers from Central Florida, NC State, Duke, Maryland, Tennessee and West Virginia.
Virginia Tech now holds commitments from two linebackers in the Class of 2018. Artis joins Alan Tisdale, who committed to Virginia Tech on July 1. The Hokies are also still recruiting linebacker Dax Hollifield, a consensus 4-star prospect.
As of now, Virginia Tech holds commitments from 22 recruits for their Class of 2018. Artis is the third commitment from the state of Virginia, joining athlete Armani Chatman and running back Cole Beck.
