More times than not this season, opponents have run to the opposite side of the field from where Class of  2020 defensive end Jacolbe Cowan lines up.

The result has been fewer big plays and tackles for Cowan, a sophomore at Providence Day School in Charlotte. It’s not an ideal situation for him, but one he said he’s accepted.

“I guess you can say it is frustrating,” Cowan said. “But I guess you’re doing your job when teams do that. Of course, you want stats, but if they run away from you, you’re doing your job.”

Cowan didn’t need big stats to see his recruitment take off. Alabama became offer No. 16 on Sept. 22, joining a list that also includes Virginia Tech, Florida State, Notre Dame and Penn State. He’s taken a few visits so far this season and has one coming this weekend.
