Target Board Update: Hokies Chasing a Few Remaining Targets

Virginia Tech has 19 commitments for the 2018 recruiting class, so there are precious few spots remaining. My guess is that the coaching staff would sign 25 players in this class, if possible.

If it doesn’t seem like the Hokies have room to sign 25 guys in this class, then you would be correct. On paper, they don’t. By my count, anywhere from 68-70 scholarship players are eligible to return for the 2018 season. That would give Tech room to sign 15-17 players in the 2018 class. But by now we all know that it doesn’t work that way.

There will be attrition. There will be injuries. There may even be a player or two who declare early for the NFL Draft. However you slice it, I’m positive there will be room for the Hokies to sign 25 players in this class if they so choose. Fortunately they are nearly finished with 2018 recruiting, which gives them an opportunity to focus on key players down the stretch, as well as to continue working hard on the 2019 and 2020 classes.

Let’s see where the Hokies stand at each position.
