Class of 2019 Athlete Jahad Carter Commits to Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech is off to a 4-0 start in 2017, and that success seems to be paying dividends on the recruiting trail. The Hokies picked up their first commitment for the Class of 2019 on Sunday in athlete Jahad Carter.

Carter is a 6-foot-2, 185-pound player out of Henrico High School in Richmond, Va. Carter plays wide receiver and cornerback for Henrico. Virginia Tech and Temple are currently Carter’s only scholarship offers.

  1. Jahad knows better than to try to string out tongue-twisting Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VPI&SU). I think he did great to use the shortened name we go by, and to note additionally that it also a University.

18 and a Junior? Maybe he had the same problem I did, the Doctors would not let me start school until I was 7 years & 3 months old. I still can’t spell Enjinear, but I are one, VTEE.

  2. I believe Tyrod Taylor committed to “The University of Virginia Tech” and he turned out ok. Try to remember how smart you were when you were 18 years old.

    1. Well this is a short sided, ignorant comment. I’ll take a tall athlete any day! Congratulations Jahad. You’ll make a great Hokie!

        1. You’re right. I misspoke. Fact remains, I have no idea why you would say something offensive like this about our first commitment of 2019? In an area of the state where we need to pull more recruits. If I were Jahad, and I read this, I’d be disappointed. Plus I’m sure he’ll get more offers. Good commitment imo

          1. I’m sure he’s a good young man. Reading his tweet I expected to see that he is committed to Virginia Tech, not the University of Virginia Tech. For a quick second, I thought he was saying the University of Virginia. If he’s been to Virginia Tech’s camps and talked to Virginia Tech’s coaches, I hope he knows the name of the institution he plans to attend.
If he is of good character and reads this, hopefully he’s enlightened, not disappointed.

    2. Dude what a crappy comment. Fuente and staff are great evaluators of talent. I’m sure they see an under the radar recruit who will have several more Power 5 offers before signing day 2019. Congrats Jahad!
