Virginia Tech finished a busy day on the recruiting trail on Friday with the commitment of defensive lineman JBril Glaze.

Glaze is listed at 6-foot-3, 250-pounds and plays for Jefferson High School in Tampa, FL. Glaze is a 3-star prospect at defensive end, although at his size, he’ll likely slide inside and play at defensive tackle at Virginia Tech.

Glaze was originally committed to South Florida but with the departure of Willie Taggart and arrival of Charlie Strong, Glaze decommitted on Dec. 7. He’s listed with 21 reported scholarship offers from schools such as Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan State, Mississippi State and Tennessee.

Friday brought two commitments for Virginia Tech. JUCO-transfer AJ Bush announced on Twitter he would attend Tech and enroll for this spring semester. Bush gives the Hokies depth at quarterback, while Glaze will give the Class of 2017 depth on the defensive line.

  1. I read the article from August and found the comments to be most interesting. If it’s not our jobs we are all just Sunday morning quarterbacks but its fun.

  2. Ricky, thanks for the article! Congrats to Mr. Glaze for choosing VT as a fantastic destination for a great education and football experience!

I am wondering about recruiting class size. If you have time, could you compare the numbers to previous classes? It is great that VT performed much better this year. Given the grads, xfers and recent exits, where is VT in terms of expected addl xfers or numbers adding up this Spring? Is this class size now much bigger than previous? Are there now more exits or more players moving to the NFL than normal? Thanks again!

    1. Given that VT is expecting to / hoping to land even more recruits before the deadline…

  3. GREAT..welcome to the Hokie Nation Mr Glaze!I can’t wait to see you wrecking havoc in Bud Foster’s defense

  4. Huge get! We need DTs in the pipeline and this guy is a good prospect. I did not see this coming but super happy!
