Wrestling Holding Open Mat Sessions Before Virginia Tech’s Game vs. East Carolina

Virginia Tech wrestling hosted their first two open mat sessions prior to the Liberty and Boston College games, giving Virginia Tech fans a chance to see the 2017 squad for the first time, including the new freshmen.  The wrestling mats were rolled out on the artificial turf as a part of the Hokie Village and wrestlers and coaches alike interacted and showed off for the crowd.

Assistant coach Mike Zadick in particular spent time with young fans, after getting double legged numerous times.

Former Virginia Tech wrestler Devin Carter also posed for some pictures between drills.

The Hokies are holding their final open mat of the preseason prior to Saturday’s game vs. East Carolina. The open mat is tentatively scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. and will run for an hour.
After the open mat session, the team will host a tailgate. There’s a $35 fee for attending the tailgate, with all proceeds going to the Southeast Regional Training Center.  For more information visit the wrestling message board where full details are posted or email [email protected]
