Jaylen Griffin, a 3-star linebacker from Rome, GA., committed to Virginia Tech on Saturday.
Griffin was one of three 2017 recruits to verbal to the Hokies on Saturday. 2018 athlete Bryce Thompson committed as well.
After decommitting from California on June 22, Griffin listed Virginia Tech in his top remaining schools. Griffin has 18 offers overall, including from schools such as Boston College, East Carolina, Louisville, Illinois, Marshall and Old Dominion.
Griffin is listed at 6-foot-1 and 205-pounds, and likely fits as an outside linebacker for the Hokies.
